Select and use quick actions

Selection tells Editor v2 which objects your next action should affect.

The representative video demonstrates this exact workflow: Select one rectangle on the canvas and reveal its nearby Quick Bar.

Before you start

Open an editable file that contains at least one object. Choose Move, or press V, so a drag selects or moves objects instead of creating a new one.

Select one or more objects

• Click an object to select only that object.
• Hold Shift, Ctrl, or ⌘ while clicking to add or remove objects from the selection.
• Start on blank canvas and drag a marquee around several objects.
• Press Ctrl + A on Windows or ⌘ + A on macOS to select all eligible objects on the current page.
• Click a blank area to clear the selection.

For overlapping or very small objects, select the item by name in Layers. Hidden objects must be shown before you can select them on the canvas.

Use the Quick Bar

The Quick Bar appears near the current selection and shows controls suited to that object:

• Shapes can show fill and corner-radius controls.
• Text can show font size, color, and alignment.
• Images can show fit, aspect-ratio, and crop actions.
• Connectors can show path style, line style, stroke color, and stroke width.
• A multi-selection can show shared actions such as Group and Delete.

Changes apply to the selected object or objects. Check the canvas preview before moving on, especially when multiple objects are selected.

Use the style menu on a single selection to Copy style, Paste style, save the current appearance as the default, or reset that default. A multi-selection offers only actions that are safe for the whole selection.

Open the full properties

Choose More in the Quick Bar when the control you need is not shown. On a desktop layout, this opens the full Design panel. On a compact layout, it opens the selection actions or properties drawer.

Close the panel or drawer when you want more canvas space. Your selection remains active unless you click elsewhere or change pages.

Find a missing Quick Bar

The Quick Bar intentionally gets out of the way while you drag, resize, rotate, crop, or edit text. Finish the current action and it should return.

If it still does not appear:

1. Confirm the object is visible and unlocked in Layers.
2. Close any drawer that covers selection actions.
3. Use Fit selection or zoom in if the selection is offscreen or very small.
4. Click the object again with Move active.

Locked objects can be selected for inspection but do not offer every editing action. View-only files also hide or disable changes; request edit access rather than trying to force a disabled control.
