Share and comment

Sharing controls depend on how the file is stored and what permission you have. A project owner or manager may be able to invite people and change access, while a viewer sees the current access without management controls.

Prerequisites

• Sign in and open a project-backed file. A file stored only in the current browser cannot provide a usable project link to someone else.
• To invite people or change access, use an account that can manage the project.
• To comment, make sure the project and your permission allow comments to be stored.
• Save sensitive changes before widening access.

Steps: invite people and choose access

1. Choose Share in the Editor v2 top bar.
2. Review the file’s current access and the people who already have access.
3. If invitation controls are available, enter the person’s email address.
4. Choose can view or can edit, then choose Invite.
5. If link-access controls are available, choose the narrowest option that fits the task:
   • Restricted for team members and specifically invited people.
   • Anyone with the link can view when eligible people should be able to review without editing.
   • Anyone with the link can edit only when every eligible recipient should be allowed to change the file.
6. Confirm that the access list shows the intended person and role before closing the dialog.

The exact choices may be restricted by your workspace’s sign-in, team, or email-domain policy.

About sharing a link

The Copy link control is currently unavailable inside Editor v2. Do not treat its disabled state as a clipboard failure. Invite people by email, or use a project-sharing action outside Editor v2 if your workspace provides one.

Steps: leave a canvas comment

1. Open Comments from the right panel or choose the comment tool.
2. Choose Place comment when the panel asks for a location.
3. Click or tap the relevant point on the canvas.
4. Write a specific note that states the requested decision or change, then save it.
5. Use Show to return to a comment’s canvas location.
6. Add replies inside the same thread so the discussion keeps its context.
7. Choose Resolve when the issue is complete. Use Reopen if more work is needed.

If you mention a collaborator by name, check that the intended person is already part of the current project. An unmatched name remains ordinary comment text.

Recovery

• If invite and access controls are missing, check that the file is project-backed, that you are signed in to the correct account, and that you can manage the project.
• If an invitation fails, verify the email address and role, then retry after restoring the connection. Do not change link access as a substitute unless that broader access is intentional.
• If Copy link is disabled, use email invitations or leave Editor v2 and use an available project-sharing action. Repeated clicks will not enable it.
• If a comment cannot be saved, keep the text, restore the connection, and confirm that the file is still the same project before retrying.
• If Show cannot locate a thread, its attached object may have been deleted. The discussion can remain readable even when its old canvas target no longer exists.
• If you cannot edit or resolve another person’s comment, reply with the needed context or ask a project manager to help rather than recreating the thread.

Current limitations

• Copy invite link is currently unavailable in Editor v2 because link copying is not connected to the surrounding project-sharing flow. Use an available sharing action outside the editor or invite by email.
• Follow collaborator is currently unavailable in Editor v2. Presence can show who is in the file, but selecting a person does not make your viewport follow theirs.
• Local-only files cannot provide a shareable project destination. Move the work into a project-backed file before inviting reviewers.
• Comments are project-scoped. Deleting an attached object can leave a readable thread without a canvas location.
