Create your first shape
Use the Rectangle tool to add a simple shape to your design. The same basic flow works for frames and the other shape tools.

- Choose RectangleChoose the Rectangle tool from the toolbar.
- Draw the rectangleDrag across the canvas and release to create the rectangle.
Draw a rectangle
Section titled “Draw a rectangle”- In the toolbar, choose Rectangle.
- Move the pointer to the canvas.
- Drag diagonally until the rectangle is the size you want, then release.
- Keep the new rectangle selected to adjust it in the right panel.
The object also appears in Layers, where you can select or rename it later.
Draw a square or draw from the center
Section titled “Draw a square or draw from the center”- Hold Shift while dragging to keep the width and height equal.
- Hold Alt on Windows or Option on macOS to draw outward from the point where you started.
- Hold both keys to draw a square from its center.
You can press or release either key while you are still dragging. The preview updates before you finish.
Fix a mistake
Section titled “Fix a mistake”- Press Ctrl + Z on Windows or ⌘ + Z on macOS to undo the shape.
- Use Redo in the toolbar if you change your mind.
- Press Escape before releasing the pointer to cancel the shape without adding it.
