Export a page or selection

Export from the top bar when you need an image of the current page or selected content. Export the complete design as JSON when you need a restorable Designful file rather than a flattened image.

Prerequisites

• Open the page that contains the content you want to export.
• For a selection export, select the object, group, or frame before opening Export.
• Check hidden layers, clipping, fonts, effects, and image loading at the zoom level you normally use for review.
• Allow downloads from Designful if your browser asks.

Steps: export a page or selection

1. Choose Export in the Editor v2 top bar.
2. Under Target, choose Page or Selection. If Selection is unavailable, close the dialog, select at least one object, and reopen it.
3. Choose a format:
   • PNG for lossless raster output and transparency.
   • JPG for a smaller photographic image without transparency.
   • WebP for compact raster output in workflows that support it.
   • SVG when it appears for a selection that can be exported faithfully as vector content.
4. For a raster format, choose a scale from 0.5x to 4x. The size badge in the preview shows the resulting pixel dimensions.
5. For JPG or WebP, choose the quality you need. PNG is lossless, so its quality control is unavailable.
6. Turn Background on and choose a color when you need an opaque result. Leave it off for transparency in formats that support it.
7. Choose Export PNG, Export JPG, Export WebP, or Export SVG. Wait while Editor v2 prepares the file.
8. When the button changes to Download, choose it again to save the prepared file.

The second deliberate action lets the browser treat the download as your requested file action. Changing the target, selection, format, scale, quality, background, or source geometry invalidates a prepared result, so prepare it again after any of those changes.

Steps: export a restorable design

1. Open the main menu.
2. Open the export submenu and choose Export as JSON.
3. Store the downloaded file somewhere you can identify later.

JSON is the right choice for backup or transfer between compatible Designful files. It is not a presentation image, and importing it replaces the destination document after confirmation.

Some Designful workspaces may also show PDF, print, or send-a-copy actions. Use them only when they are visible and enabled. Their availability depends on where the file is open.

Recovery

• If Selection is unavailable, verify that the intended layer is visible and selected on the current page.
• If SVG does not appear, the selected content cannot be represented faithfully by the available vector exporter. Use PNG at a higher scale, or simplify the selection and try again.
• If the export looks blank or cropped, check the target, frame clipping, hidden layers, object bounds, and page you exported.
• If the background is wrong, return to the dialog, change Background, and prepare a new file.
• If preparation fails on a large page, export smaller frames or selections, lower the raster scale, and retry.
• If the browser blocks the download, allow downloads for Designful and choose Download again. Do not repeatedly change settings while a file is preparing.
• If PDF is not shown, use an available raster or SVG export and assemble the PDF in your delivery tool, or use a Designful workspace that offers PDF export.

Current limitations

• SVG appears only when the selected visible content can be exported without silently dropping unsupported descendants. It is not a general fallback for every page.
• PDF, print, and send-a-copy actions are not present in every Editor v2 context.
• Raster output is subject to browser and device memory limits. Very large dimensions or scales may need to be split into smaller exports.
• Exporting creates a file; it does not create a named cloud version. Keep the JSON backup yourself when you need a clearly labeled checkpoint.
